Trillanes to Gordon:''Hindi ikaw yung pinakamagaling dito sa real world"
Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who had accused Faeldon of being involved in corruption at the Bureau of Customs (BOC), criticized Gordon for the latter's remarks during the Senate blue ribbon committee hearing on the P6.4-billion shabu shipment from China.
Faeldon initially refused to answer Trillanes' questions during the hearing, Faeldon and Trillanes had an intense exchange of words after the senator asked the Customs chief if there is corruption at the agency. Senator Trillanes then warned Faeldon that he could be cited in contempt if he would continue to refuse to answer the questions.
Committee chairman Senator Gordon on Tuesday said that if it was up to him, he would send Faeldon home if he continued to keep mum on the issues raised against him and the BOC.
Gordon has filed an ethics case against Trillanes for calling the blue ribbon panel a “committee de abswelto.” Trillanes said he also intends to slap Gordon with an ethics complaint.
“Para sa kanya, parang umiikot yung mundo sa kanya (Richard Gordon). Hindi eh. Hindi ikaw yung pinakamagaling dito sa real world,” Trillanes said.
According to Lacson, Gordon claimed he was “misquoted.”
Gordon’s statements elicited a “wow” reaction from Lacson who posted said remark on his Twitter account.
“Not one member not one chairman has the authority unilaterally to send home any person having been cited in contempt of the committee,” Lacson said.
Lacson had accused Faeldon and other Customs officials of receiving “tara” or bribes. Faeldon, in turn, alleged that Lacson’s son is involved in cement smuggling.
While Senate President Koko Pimentel opinion:
“Ang subpoena sa kanya is to come here and testify. Hindi lang naman come here and wave your hand,” Pimentel said in an interview.
Senate President “Koko” Pimentel III said Wednesday that Faeldon could leave the Senate premises until he testified in the blue ribbon committee hearing on the shabu shipment.
Faeldon earlier said he wanted a clarification on the privilege of immunity from suit accorded to senators who deliver privilege speeches
Faeldon has been detained at the Senate since Monday after he refused to appear before the committee, saying he feels he will be treated unfairly by some senators.
