Espenido assigned to IloIlo City by President Duterte

President Rodrigo Duterte decided to assign Espenido to Iloilo City after the police official said he wants to go after the city’s mayor, Jed Mabilog. Duterte said on Monday confirmed that he is sending Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido to Iloilo, which the chief executive once described as the “most shabulized” city in the country. "You asked for the assignment sa Leyte, namatay ang mayor doon. You asked for another assignment sa Ozamiz, namatay ang mayor doon - si Parojinog. Ngayon gusto mo sa Iloilo kasi nga si Mabilog has been identified as a protector," Duterte said, The President has said that Iloilo province is a bedrock of illegal drug trading in the Visayas region, an allegation denied by the province’s mayors, including Mabilog.

President Duterte gives Lapu-Lapu award to Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido

Police Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido was given an award the Order of Lapu-Lapu by President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday during the National Heroes Day Celebration in Taguig City. Duterte created the Order of Lapu-Lapu in April through Executive Order 17 and expanded its coverage through Executive Order 35 signed on August 3. Espenido was the police commander of Albuera, Leyte, when Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. was killed in an alleged shootout inside the subprovincial jail in Baybay City. Espenido led the raids on the houses of the Parojinog clan in July that led to the death of Ozamiz City Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog and 14 others. Espenido was given the Magalong Medal, which is conferred on officials and personnel of the government and private individuals who have rendered “extraordinary service or have made exceptional contributions to the success of an activity pursuant to a campaign or advocacy of the President.”

Gilas Pilipinas won Gold Medal in SEA Games 2017

Gilas Pilipinas remains as the undisputed king of ASEAN basketball. The Philippines took care of Indonesia Saturday at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, 94-55, winning gold in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. It's the country's 12th straight SEA Games gold medal in men's basketball and 18th overall. Gilas continued to pound on Indonesia in the second half and come the fourth quarter, the gold medal was sealed after two highlight dunks by teenage sensation Kobe Paras. Tolomia finished with a game-high 20 points off the bench, 15 coming from beyond the arc, while Paras added 14 points on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting. Both the Philippines and Indonesia entered the Final undefeated and the Indonesians actually gave Gilas fits in the first 10 minutes. Mayweather 50-wins, still UNDEFEATED!

"Separation of Senate probe on ‘tara’ list" -Sen. Trillanes

Those people who allegedly involved in the said corrupt practice have committed possible violations of Republic Act No. 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act. according to Sen.Trillanes. Trillanes filed Senate Resolution No. 474 directing the ways and means committee to conduct the probe on the “‘tara’ system supposedly perpetuated by different players in connivance with numerous officials of the BOC.” Senator Antonio Trillanes IV is seeking a separate Senate committee investigation into the possible violations of Customs officials allegedly receiving “tara” or bribes in order to create new laws to stop the corruption in the Bureau of Customs (BOC). Last week, Senator Panfilo Lacson accused former Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon, along with other Customs officials of receiving payoffs from “big players” at the BOC.
